SatCen receives the prestigious Conde de Latores 2022 Award for its support of humanitarian activities and missions
On November 5, the Conde de Latores Award for Humanitarian Work was awarded to the European Union Satellite Centre (SatCen), given the important work carried out in support of humanitarian activities and missions and its essential services to the European Union and its security. SatCen Director, Ambassador Sorin Ducaru, collected the prestigious award on behalf of the Agency.
The delivery ceremony, carried out by the Real Cuerpo de la Nobleza del Principiado de Asturias (Royal Corps of the Nobility of Asturias), was held in the Chapel of the Chaste King of the Oviedo Cathedral, under the Presidency of H.E. Don Francisco de Borbón, Duke of Seville and Grandee of Spain.
The ceremony included a welcome cocktail at the Hotel de la Reconquista in the city of Oviedo, the awards ceremony presented by Duke of Seville, and a “brotherhood” dinner and traditional toast to H.M. the King of Spain.
During the event, Chancellor-Secretary General of the Corporation, Mr Manuel Ruiz de Bucesta discussed the activities carried out by the Royal Corps since the celebration of the last General Chapter, highlighting activities such as the participation of the Royal Corps in the NATO Summit held in Madrid last June.
The Royal Corps of the Nobility of Asturias annually awards four prizes, the Carreño de Miranda Award, for work in the Arts, the Trelles-Villademoros Award, for Cultural work, the Conde de Campomanes Award, for Economic work, and the Conde de Latores Award for Humanitarian Work, which was awarded to the European Satellite Center (SATCEN) and bears the name of the Royal Corps of the Nobility of Asturias first President, and Head of the House of H.M. the King, the Lieutenant General Mr Sabino Fernández-Campo, Count of Latores.
