SatCen Director Sorin Ducaru meets with Cristian Busoi, Chair of the European Parliament’s Industry, Research and Energy Committee
On Monday 15 February 2021, SatCen Director Sorin Ducaru met in Bucharest with Cristian Busoi, Chair of the European Parliament’s Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE) Committee. The meeting presented an opportunity to present SatCen’s key activities as well as discuss the Centre’s relevance for ITRE’s agenda.
During the meeting, Mr Cristian Busoi was briefed on the role of SatCen as an autonomous European asset for geospatial intelligence, the development and employment of innovative technologies to support geospatial analysis and the successful cooperation with the Commission in the context of the EU Space Programme, in particular through the SatCen’s role as an entrusted entity for the Copernicus Support for External Action Service and the Agency’s role as “Front Desk” service provider within the EU Space Surveillance and Tracking (SST) Support Framework.
The productive meeting concluded with an expression of appreciation and support for the Centre and its work by the European Parliament, followed by an invitation addressed to Director Ducaru to present a comprehensive video-briefing on SatCen’s activity to the ITRE Committee.
