Mr Pascal Savouret, EFCA Executive Director, visits SatCen
On 3 March 2020, Mr Pascal Savouret, Executive Director of the European Fisheries Control Agency, visited SatCen together with Mr Sven Tahon, Specialist Officer Control Technologies.
They were welcomed by SatCen Director Amb. Sorin Ducaru and Deputy Director Giuseppe D’Amico, as well as Operations Manager Marcello Moretti, Head of Copernicus Unit Denis Bruckert and Project Manager Patricia Romeyro.
After a general overview on SatCen activities by Amb. Ducaru and a presentation given by Mr Pascal Savouret, the cooperation between both Agencies, common interests and activities were discussed including access to the Copernicus SEA service and EFCA geospatial intelligence requirements. The visit ended with a very constructive exchange of views on the way ahead.
SatCen is already supporting EFCA in areas such as the detection of IUU (Illegal Unreported and Unregulated) fishing however, there are ‘many other opportunities for collaboration between the two Agencies’, said EFCA Executive Director Pascal Savouret.
In the near future, both Agencies will be strengthening their cooperation in support of the security of the EU and its citizens.
