EU SatCen Director Pascal Legai speaks at the Earth Observation celebratory event in Baveno, Italy
On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the signature of the Baveno Manifesto - the document which gave birth to the Copernicus Programme, originally GMES –, the EU SatCen Director P. Legai was invited to speak at the Earth Observation celebratory event that took place in Baveno, Lake Maggiore - Italy, on June 20th and 21st.
The event, organised by the European Commission in partnership with ESA and with the support of the Italian Ministry of Education, Universities and Research, highlighted the achievements of the European Copernicus programme since the initial commitment of intents in 1998 and examined how the programme has evolved into an independent European Earth Observation system that delivers services for the environment and for security, where partnership between EU institutions and industry is of utmost importance.
