2nd EU SST Webinar on Operations in Space Surveillance and Tracking opens Registration
On 16 November 2020 from 14:00 to 17:00 CET, in the context of the EU Space Surveillance and Tracking (SST) Support Framework, the SST Cooperation is organising the 2nd EU SST Webinar on the topic of operations in Space Surveillance and Tracking. This webinar will present the latest EU SST developments and how the different Operations Centres and the SST Front Desk, managed by SatCen, are currently working for providing the SST services – Collision Avoidance, Re-entry Analysis, and Fragmentation Analysis. Registrations are open on this website and are free of charge.
SST experts will present cases of potential collisions in space, major space objects break-ups and re-entries, and will be ready to answer questions from the participants. The webinar will include the special participation of EUMETSAT, the European Commission, with DG DEFIS and DG ECHO, and the European External Action Service (EEAS), with the Space Task Force.
The agenda of the 2nd EU SST Webinar, available on the EU SST website, will address topics such as how the SST Support Framework contributes to safeguarding European space infrastructure, the EU SST architecture and service provision model, the three SST services, and the safety, security and sustainability of outer space.
SST refers to the capacity to detect, catalogue and predict the movements of space objects orbiting the Earth. In 2014, the European Union established the EU SST Support Framework, and in 2016, the eight Member States of the SST Consortium - France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain and United Kingdom – and SatCen formed the SST Cooperation.
SatCen is the SST Front Desk distributing SST services to all EU countries, EU institutions, spacecraft owners and operators, and civil protection authorities through the SST Service Provision Portal and is responsible for user engagement, dissemination and performance reporting activities.
