Copernicus Security Service in Support to EU External Action (SEA) is celebrating its 4th Anniversary
On 6 October 2020, the Copernicus Security Service in Support to EU External Action (SEA), operated by SatCen, celebrated its 4th anniversary.
The implementation of the Copernicus Security Service SEA is entrusted to SatCen. It contributes to improving EU capacities in crisis prevention, preparedness and response, enhancing situational awareness by providing timely and accurate geospatial information for the detection and monitoring of events or activities outside the EU border that may have implications for European and global security.
Since its creation, the service was activated more than 350 times and delivered approximately 700 products, over more than 60 countries.
Almost 40 users from the European External Action Service, EU CSDP Missions and Operations, Member States, European Commission and the United Nations have benefited so far from the service by triggering activations with their requests and receiving customised products as a result.
